Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe ability to comprehend idiomatic expressions was compared between 9 eighth grade and 10 tenth grade learning disabled (LD) adolescents. Each subject was presented with a multiple choice picture task, a nonstandardized lexical explanational and a standardized explanational task. Results failed to show a developmental trend between the eighth and tenth grade LD students. Yet, all LD adolescents scored significantly lower in comparison to the age equivalent normal adolescents. Nevertheless, a validity check on the instruments cast doubt on their use with LD adolescent population.
