Revision of the Genus Homaliodendron (Neckeraceae) of Southeast Asia

Homaliodendron (Neckeraceae) is a genus of mosses widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics. Three species [(H. flabellatum (Sm.) Fleisch. H. papillosum Broth. and H. scalpellifolium (Mitt.) Fleisch.)] are recognized for Southeast Asia and adjacent regions. Fifteen species and three varieties are treated as new synonyms of these three species. Five species are excluded from Homaliodendron. The sections of the genus are not retained. A historic review of the genus is discussed in detail. Characters of taxonomic importance, such as stem branching, shape of leaves, aerolation of leaf cells and stoma are described in detail.
