Queering Composition: A Language for LGBTQIA+ Perspectives in First-Year Writing Instruction

<p>In my work, I seek to establish that queerness has a history with the field of writing composition and that this history can shape modern composition through a specific lexicon containing the terms <em>derivative, originative, Rogerian, rhetorical failure, </em>and<em> master narratives. </em>To provide evidence for this, I have included data from a study I conducted with four sections of English 1102. By analyzing the words of actual composition students, I highlight a need within composition to recognize queerness more overtly, both in theory and in practical applications. </p>
