Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis exploratory research attempts to determine the nature of current operating practices and to identify the most persistent operational and logistical problems encountered by U.S. motor carriers engaged in cross-border trade to and from Mexico. The quality of transportation service is investigated via an assessment of U.S. motor carriers' evaluation of their Mexican motor carriers' partner(s) performance and quality of service. Additionally, U.S. motor carriers' evaluation of various aspects of the border crossing procedures are ascertained and selected public policy issues in cross-border trucking to Mexico are addressed. Finally, this study attempts to ascertain the reasons why those trucking firms not involved in cross-border trade to and from Mexico have excluded themselves from this growing market.
