Πειραματικές μελέτες της θερμορύθμισης: Ορμονικές μεταβολές και διακύμανση βασικών μετάλλων κατά την προσαρμογή επίμυων στο θερμό και ψυχρό περιβάλλον

285 wistar rats were used for the present cold (4°C) and hot (35-36°C) adaptation study. 76 rats kept in room temperature, 114 were exposed to cold (4°C) and 95 to hot (35-36°C). Animals of all groups were sacrificed in order to estimate thyroid hormone (T₃, T₄, free T₃, free T₄) TSH, ANP levels, as well as concentrations of essential metals (Zn²⁺, Cu²⁺, Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺) in serum, heart and liver tissue. During cold adaptation thyroid hormone levels were significantly increased, but during hot adaptation thyroid hormone levels were significantly decreased. ANP plasma levels were found significantly increased (up to two or three fold or the controls) during exposure to cold. In hot adaptation transient, though significant increase of ANP levels was observed during the first 24 hours of exposure, and a decrease to significantly low concentrations. Plasma ANP levels changes observed during cold and hot adaptation are probably depended on thyroid hormone actions, and cardiac rate acceleration. From the estimation of essential metals were found that Zn²⁺ and Ca²⁺. In both states, heart tissue concentrations were also positively related to ANP plasma levels. From the determination of Cu²⁺ and Mg²⁺ were found that increased concentrations in heart tissue followed by decreased ANP plasma.
