Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THIS THESIS (I) A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE COUPLED BIOT'S THEORY OF THERMOELASTICITY IS PRESENTED AS WELL AS OF THE GENERALIZED THEORIES OF LORD AND SHULMAN, LEBON AND GREEN AND LINDSAY. ALSO THE PROBLEM OF THE PROPAGATION OF THERMOELASTIC WAVES IN AN INFINITE CYLINDER IS STUDIED. (II) THE FIELD EQUATIONS AND THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS OF LORD'S AND SHULMAN'S THEORY ARE GIVEN, EXTENDED IN THEMAGNETO-ELECTRO- THERMOELASTICITY FOR AN INITIALLY STRESSED MATERIAL. ON THE BASIS OF THE ABOVE THEORY (A) THE PROBLEM OF THE PROPAGATION OF PLANE MAGNETO-ELECTRO-THERMOELASTIC WAVES IN AN INITIALLY STRESSED INFINITE MATERIAL. (B) THE PROBLEM OF THE PROPAGATION OF MAGNETO- ELECTRO-THERMOELASTIC SURFACE WAVES (RAYLEIGH WAVES) IN AN INITIALLY STRESSED MATERIAL IS STUDIED. (III) THE GENERALIZEDNON -LINEAR THEORY AS WELL AS THE LINEARIZED THEORY IN THE CASE OF THE FERROMAGNETIC MATERIALS, IS PRODUCED BASED ON GREENS AND LINDSAY'S AND TIERSTEN'S AND BROWN'S IDEAS.
