ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΕΙΑΚΩΝ ΙΔΙΟΤΗΤΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΚΑΤΑΛΥΤΙΚΗΣ ΔΡΑΣΤΙΚΟΤΗΤΑΣ ΠΑΡΑΣΚΕΥΑΣΜΑΤΩΝ ΥΔΡΟΞΕΙΔΙΩΝ ΤΟΥ ΑΡΓΙΛΙΟΥ
Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE AIM OF THE PRESENT WORK WAS THE PREPARATION OF ALUMINUM HYDROXIDES WITH SPECIFIC SURFACE PROPERTIES AND CATALYTIC. THESE MATERIALS WERE PREPARED BY THE HYDROLYSIS OF ALCL3.6H2O IN AQUEOUS OR ALCOHOLIC SOLUTIONS AS WELL AS IN MIXED WITH ETHANOL AND ACETON AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS. AS PRECIPITATION AGENTS WERE USED THREE PRIMARY ALIPHATIC AMINES SUCH AS PROPYLAMINE, OCTYLAMINE AND DODECYLAMINE. THE PREPARED SAMPLES WERE FREEZE DRIED, A PROCESS THAT HAS THE ADVANTAGE TO OBTAIN MATERIALS WITH BETTER SURFACE PROPERTIES THAN CONVENTIONAL TECHNIQUES. OUR PURPOSE WAS TO STUDY THE INFLUENCE OF AMINE AS WELL AS THAT OF THE SOLVENT, ON SURFACE PROPERTIES AND CATALYTIC ACTIVITY OF THE PREPARED SAMPLES. THE REPLACEMENT OF WATER BY ORGANIC SOLVENTS LEADS TO XEROGELS WITH A HIGH SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA AND POROSITY, TENSION OF THE SOLVENT THAN THAT OF THE WATER. THE SURFACE PROPERTIES STUDIED WERE: MORPHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE, SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA, POROSITY,PORE SIZE DISTRIBUTION AND ADSORPTION CAPACITY. THE CATALYTIC ACTIVITY ON THE ETHANOL DEHYDRATION REACTION WAS STUDIED AS WELL.
