Η επίδραση της κετοκοναζόλης στην ιδιοπαθή ορμονοεξαρτώμενη τριχοφυΐα

Despite the significant research which has been conducted in recent years, the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of idiopathic hisrutism remains incomplete. Many pharmaceutical agents have been used for the treatment but none of them have been shown to offer a completely secure and effective solution to the problem. The difficulty of the development of new drugs is hampered in a certain degree by the inability of the elucidation of the exact pathogenetic mechanism of the disease, while there are still controversies about the existence of an idiopathic form of hirsutism. The appearance of a new steroidogenetic inhibitor ketoconazole gave us the opportunity to design the present study in order to examine any possible action of this new imidazole-derived agent in the treatment of idiopathic hirsutism. For this purpose 225 women with hirsutism were studied. The evaluation of the degree of hirsutism was accomplished by the use of the well-known scale of Ferriman-Gallwey as well as by the estimation of the hair length with the help of the trihometer designed by KATZ. A modified diagnostic algorithm used for the exclusion of all secondary forms of hirsutism, due to diseases such as polycystic ovarian, congenital adrenal hyperplasia etc. Following the exclusion of these forms 43 women remained which were considered as having idiopathic type of hirsutism. The study of the hormonal profile included measurements of Testosterone, DHEA-S, SHBG and A4-Androstenedione. The above profile showed a considerable variation within the population.
