Effect of irradiation of head and neck tumours on the proteins' composition of the enamel salivary pellicle

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Aim of the present study was to determine the effect of irradiation of head and neck cancer on the proteins’ composition of the in vivo enamel salivary pellice. For this reason pellicle was collected from irradiated and not irradiated tumour patients. The samples were analyzed by electrophoretical separation and silver-staining as well as immunodetection of alpha-amylase, IgA and acidic-PRPs. Conclusively to our results, irradiation of the head and neck region seems to affect the quantity but not the chemical composition of the enamel salivary pellicle.
