HYPOTHESIS: That skeletal muscle, throughout the body, can be preconditioned to better withstand prolonged periods of ischaemia, by first subjecting a remote muscle to brief, non-invasive and sub-lethal, cycles of ischaemia and reperfusion, using a hindlimb tourniquet.
