Addressing the Needs of Children With Exceptional Abilities

<p>This study examines the role of education in establishing effective programs for children who have been identified as gifted and/or talented. It views children who process information rapidly and use critical thinking skills early as students with exceptional abilities and special needs. The study addresses special considerations such as assessment, enrichment, and differentiated curriculum for this unique population of children. The study identifies concepts of giftedness, analyzes pervasive attitudes toward gifted children, and includes program strategies that specifically address their accelerated learning needs.</p>
