A cross country study of the role of the three sectors on the acceptance and integration of people with intellectual and physical disabilities in Kenya and the United States of America

This study examines acceptance and integration of people with intellectual and physical disabilities in the United States and Kenya and the involvement of the three sectors. The literature review revealed that significant progress was made over the past century in the United States, and the past decade in Kenya in treatment of people with disabilities, but there are still inefficiencies. Respondents to the survey reported that their clients struggle with acceptance and integration in their local community, and that services provided by the public and private sectors are inadequate. The findings of this study indicate that both the United States and Kenya suffer from a lack of funding and implementation behind initiatives created to improve conditions for people with disabilities.
