The faith and civic engagement scale: Principle components and confirmatory factor analysis

The two present studies ran an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis on the Perceptions and Expectations section of the Faith and Civic Engagement (FACE) scale, which identified common themes and thus created a new, more concise measure designed for use by colleges and universities. The new measure generated provides a means for colleges and universities to identify students' perceptions and behaviors in terms of faith and civic/political engagement. Institutions of higher education may use this data to create courses and programs designed to encourage spiritual/religious, civic, and political engagement, which may encourage young adults to become responsible citizens who contribute to the betterment of society.
