Abstract
dc:description.abstractWe Collect Answers is an investigation of language, religion, translation, community participation, and ritual and poetry. This written statement is presented alongside an exhibition of paintings and ceramic works structured around a ritual of exchange encouraging social participation. The work argues for a greater understanding of social relationships that occur within social structures such as language and religion, and aims to employ the manifestations of these structures, such as poetry and ritual, towards this end. The questions are presented within a visual experience, also asking how art mediates these inquiries, and the function of art objects as surrogates for linguistic and social connection.
