This dissertation attempts to investigate by way of analysis of clinical material, a traditional psychoanalytic approach to working in a group with severely troubled adolescents with learning difficulties. The study is located within a theoretical context of an understanding of adolescent male identity in the Cape Flats area of the Western Cape.
