STRUCTURES OF POWER IN LATE “DACIAN” IRON AGE TRANSYLVANIA (ROMANIA). TESTING OLD AND NEW MODELS

The Geto-Dacians (the northern branches of the Thracians), together with the Celts and Germans, composed the European Roman Barbaricum. Although the political constructs of the Celts and the Germans were heterarchical based, effectively opposing centralizing tendencies, the Geto-Dacians, during the 1st c.B.C and 1st c.A.D. seem to have taken a different path, influenced both by the Celto-Germanic and Southern Thracians/Hellenistic traditions.
