3D Magnetic Resonance Angiography Reconstruction Using Multi-channel Blind Deconvolution

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become one of the popular new tools of radiology in the past few years with the advantages of noninvasive and low radiation, compared with other radiography method like computed tomography, X-ray imaging and PET, it has become the most important development in medical diagnosis. In many clinical applications, the three dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) plays an important role. Unlike conventional angiography technology, which will use ionizing radiation and sometimes need contrast material injection. The MRA uses a more powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to evaluate blood vessels and provide plenty of details for more compact anatomic regions with various flow directions. However, the speed limitation of the 3D MRA reconstruction is still an unignorable problem due to the size of the dataset, especially when the dataset has multi-channels. The parallel imaging in MRI is an emerging method to increase the speed of imaging. It uses multiple coils to work simultaneously to acquire the needed MRI data by reducing amount of data that acquired in each coil. With the proposed method, the multi-channel blind deconvolution (MalBEC), we formulate the reconstruction task into a low-rank matrix recovery problem. The experiment demonstrate that this method can provide high quality reconstruction image with high acceleration factors using much less time compared with existing calibration-free method.
