Two fragmentary partbooks ca. 1520: transcriptions, variants, and photographic reconstruction

Sixteen manuscript leaves now held by the University at Buffalo Music Library (US-BUu Ms. M/02/A3/p) are fragments of the tenor and superius partbooks from a probable set of four dating from ca. 1520. The thesis includes a comprehensive description of the manuscript; transcriptions of the texts and music of all musical works that are unique to this source, with critical notes; computer enhanced images of particularly problematic portions of the source; and a facsimile edition, produced by digital scanning, of the entire source. The manuscript includes motets by Andreas de Silva, Costanzo Festa, Bartolomeo Tromboncino, Josquin Desprez, Heinrich Isaac, Erasmus Lapicida, and Antoine Brumel.
