As causas e consequências da falta de adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso nos casos de tuberculose em Cabedelo-PB.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractTuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused primarily by the etiologic agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Koch bacillus. Humans harbor the infection of this bacterium as active disease. The lack of adherence to treatment is a major difficulty faced in Brazil and promotes the insistence of the infection and the formatio n of resistant bacillus strains . There is widespread concern with the effectiveness of drug treatment of tuberculosis due to irregular therapies, in addition not to promote healing of the patient, it can convert them in cases of therapy that does not respond to traditional anti - tuberculosis drugs . When this occurs, a more complex and longer therapy is required increasing the number of drugs and consequently its adverse effects. Based on these implications, this study aimed to find the main causes o f non - adherence to tuberculosis treatment in the city of Cabedelo and to a ddress their main consequences. The methodology of this quantitative study, a socio - demographic questionnaire in order to characterize the sample was used, as well as semi - structured questionnaire for finding the parameters of non - adherence to treatment . The results show that the unfavorable economic situation and the presence of adverse reactions culminate in an irregular adherence to therapy, which in turn, leads to mutation making it resistant bacilli
