Análise química preliminar de extratos de Caulerpa mexicana, Bryopsis pennata, Vryothamion triquerum, Hypnea musciformes e Ircina felix e avaliação das atividades antifúngica e antibacteriana.

The products from marine origin are today the sourc e of study in many research groups, because they can lead to secondary metaboli tes with a large biological potential for the drug development. The algae Caulerpa mexicana, Bryopsis pennata, Hypnea musciformes, Bryothamnion triquetrum, and the sponge Ircina felix are species fund in Paraiba’s coast that aroused intere st by diverse biological effects. The Caulerpa mexicana is a green seaweed from the Caulerpaceae family , Bryopsis pennata it is also a green seaweed belonging Bryopsidaceae family ; Hypnea musciformes is a red seaweed incorporating Cystocloniaceae family as well as the red seaweed Bryothamnion triquetrum belonging Rhodomelaceae family. The marine sponge Ircina felix , is part of Ircinidae family. Aiming to increase the knowledge about marine breeds composing the fauna and flora of Para iba and also its potential, we have analyzed the presence of they main secondary m etabolites and also evaluated the antifungal and antibacterial profile of crude e xtracts of these species. The chemical analysis provided relevant information abo ut secondary metabolites in algae and sponges analyzed. The results of the scre ening were consistant with the data analyzed in the bibliographic review previousl y fulfilled. When observed in relation in relation to antifungal and antibacteria l activities the extracts of B. triquetrum and Ircinia felix showed satisfactory activity.
