Poliaminas em amostras biológicas humanas: importância e métodos de detecção.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractPolyamines are basic aliphatic compounds belonging to the list of bioactive amines and have important metabolic and physiological functions in animals, plants and microorganisms . They are an important target for the development of chemotherapy, since they are intimately involved in the processes of growth and cel l replication and its monitoring in biological fluids has been used to estimate the extent of tumor cell death induced by chemotherapy or radiotherapy. In the practice of clinical research , the most widely used methods for the polyamine analysis are chroma tographic methods , particularly high performance liquid chromatography with fluorimetric detection where derivatization is required . The scientific literature provides various pre - analytical methods according to the nature of the clinical samples , blood and urine are being the most used . Furthermore, optimized methods have been developed , particularly those that affect the pH and temperature of the derivatizing reaction , since these two parameters might favor the formation of other detectable products by chromatographic system or lead to decomposition of polyamines respectively, thus compromising the reliability of clinical results .
