Educação para a sustentabilidade: uma abordagem em escolas do Município de Patos, no Sertão da Paraíba.

This research focuses on the theme of education for sustainability and aims to investigate their approach in high schools of the city of Patos, Paraiba. The methodology that enables the research relies on a qualitative study of descriptive level subsidized by the method of content analysis and made possible by the techniques of field research and categorical analysis. It adopts as a sample two pedagogical proposal: one public institution of the state of Paraiba and the private institution. The research reveals that the documents guiding the teaching practice do not address the education for sustainability and other topics not related to it as the environmental problems of the semi-arid northeast, environmental education and sustainable development. Also notes that the interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, necessary for an educational practice based in the sustainability, figure as possible quality indicators to be implemented in school. The development of educational projects related to environmental issues is part of the school program, but its practice is so divorced from any orientation towards the subject investigated. The legal documents, treaties and conventions that focus on environmental issues are not addressed in pedagogical, so there is no any pedagogical action, to guide educational practice according to the aspects and principles determined by them.
