A importância de atividades com calculadoras: nos anos finais do ensino fundamental.

This research aims to analyze the potential and limitations of activities with the calculator in mathematics classes, for training students in the 8th grade of elementary school in state school students in the city of Coremas - PB. Second Selva & Borba (2010), using the calculator in the classroom can provide the development of mathematical concepts and skills and to arouse students' interest in the study of mathematics. The research methodology is based on a qualitative analysis of methodological tools which were the observations (and photographs record the classes), activities (activities using the calculator, notes and statements) and impressions of the researcher, whose research was also the teacher of the class. The activities implemented during the intervention methodology were mainly intended to promote the use of calculators, motivating students to understand their need and use in the classroom and in everyday life. With the implementation of the activities we observed that the subjects have dominion over the keys to start, stop, buttons, keys, signs, but none of the participants had dominion of the memory keys. After the intervention that we observed a significant increase of students in relation to the handling of the calculator, there was also an increase in teacherstudent and student-student, thus, able to arouse motivation, self-esteem and relationship with Math.
