Nos meandros da preservação e conservação: o LABCOR sob a visão das monitoras

Analyzes the importance of the Preservation and Conservation Laboratory (LABCOR) of the Federal University of Paraíba from the view of the monitors of the discipline of Preservation and Conservation of Collections. It describes from the beginnings after the discovery of the writing the importance of the preservation and conservation of bibliographical and documentary materials in the world and in the country, promoting the awareness of a preventive conservation, showing its relevance both to the knowledge of the history of civilizations and to the present day, and with that see reflected in the past and can build their identity in the future. This is an exploratory research of a descriptive nature, with a quantitative-qualitative approach, which used as a data collection instrument a questionnaire applied to LABCOR monitors. It is concluded that, despite the lack of adequate materials and equipment for the correct teaching and learning in the subject Preservation and Conservation of Collections, the LABCOR is extremely important for the practice of the Library and Archival Science students of the UFPB.
