Missionárias e educadoras protestantes no Brasil imperial: revisitando memórias

This present study aims to present the contribution that the missionaries Martha Watts and Carlota Kemper gave the Brazilian education in the nineteenth century. Through a historical and biographical approach it shows work these women educators in Brazil. In a period that the woman was restricted to the affairs of the home, the Protestantism encouraged them insert schooling and professionalization through teaching. The research uses the biography as a guiding theoretical reference. The Protestant Reformation is presented as also educational reform. It follows with the contrast between the Protestant education practiced in America with that was conducted in Brazil in the 19th century Finally are portrayed pedagogical experiences of missionary educators.
