Política nacional de segurança alimentar e nutricional e o desafio da construção do SISAN

This work aims to analyze the Public Policy for Food Security and Nutrition, its conception, objectives, instruments and management mechanisms, trying to perceive the current situation of implementation of the System Food and Nutrition Security at Paraíba. A descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, which tried to sought a theoretical understand of issues that involve public policy in Brazil, its federal articulation and mechanisms of social participation. The working hypothesis is that the National Policy for Food and Nutrition Security represents, in the field of social policies in Brazil, an utmost important vector to deal social exclusion, besides being a social development strategy that generates employment and income in the countryside. It could be perceived that the actions triggered by the Policy Food Security has contributed to the improvement of social indicators in various areas, because the system is intersectoral and the tangible benefits for the population, especially those living in extreme poverty and currently a glimpse of overcoming endemic hunger could be thought as achievable. The study makes clear that, despite the progress achieved so far, it still necessary to develop and expand over this policy, both nationally and in the state of Paraíba, focus on the challenge of building up the Food Security and Nutrition System.
