O uso medicinal do canabidiol e seus meandros burocrático-legal
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe majority of the Brazilian population is low income and consequently depends on what is offered by the Unified Health System. A problem arises for people suffering from neurological diseases and sees Cannabidiol as an alternative for the relief of their symptoms, Taking into account that this substance is not released by Brazilian legislation. However, Pharmaceutical Assistance and Health Care are foreseen in the Federal Constitution of 1988. The present work seeks to analyze the decriminalization and legalization of Cannabis for medical purposes in Brazil, considering the benefits brought to the treatment of patients with neurological diseases. Therefore, the right to health as a guarantee to all Brazilian citizens was discussed, the inclusion of the National Medicines Policy (PNM), the history of Cannabis as well as expert opinion on the use of this substance for medical purposes, as well as the epidemiology of Some neurological diseases. Thus, from the collection of data in specialized magazines, books and research on the subject, it was noticed that the use of Cannabis for medicinal purposes had some advances, but there was not yet a change in Brazilian legislation. We conclude that approximately four million people suffer from neurological problems in the country, the vast majority of them women and the elderly, who remain unassisted state protection.
