Crime organizado transnacional: a relação entre tráfico de drogas e violência estrutural no Brasil

In the last decades, Latin America has been confronted with new non-state actors of violence that have replaced the preoccupation with traditional issues of Security in the agendas of the countries of the region. In this context, organized crime appears as one of the main threats to peace and social cohesion, driven by the high profitability of drug trafficking and a set of structural conditions such as social exclusion, marginalization, inequality, unemployment, lack of access to quality education and impoverishment. As an important country in the route of international trafficking in illicit drugs, Brazil suffers doubly from organized crime associated with drug trafficking and the context of social injustice present in Latin America. Thus, it is considered that an analysis of the relationship between the international dynamics of drug trafficking and structural violence in Brazil is fundamental to understanding the challenges that drug trafficking imposes on peace in Brazilian society.
