Arquivos de instituições privadas de ensino superior do município de João Pessoa: adequação à Portaria do MEC nº 1.224/2013

The present paper aims to verify in Archives of Private Institutions the document treatment and the care given by the professionals that are responsible for them, based on Ordinance n. 1.224/2013, which institutes rules about keeping and maintenance of Academic Archives and its exigencies in face of the application of the Classification Code, Table of Temporality and Document Destination related to the core activity of the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (FIHE). The research was developed in three Private Institutions of Higher Education (PIHE) in João Pessoa (PB). Methodologically, it is a research with qualitative and quantitative approach, which used as research tool a semi-structured questionnaire. This questionnaire was applied with the employees who were responsible by the Academic Archives. In relation to results, it is concluded that the institutions do not have archivists that work in the management of their Academic Collection. Those responsible by the sector are worried about the organization of the document mass. Nevertheless, it is necessary the work of an archivist that seeks to perform document management correctly, facilitating information recuperation and helping in making decision.
