Maternidade e HIV/AIDS : um estudo das percepções de uma equipe de saúde sobre a gestante soropositiva

This study aims at examining the perceptions about pregnancy among HIV/AIDS held by professionals who work in a specialized health care unit in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro state. It also tries to explain how such perceptions contribute to perpetuate the silence regarding women living with HIV/AIDS sexual practices and family planning. Data for this research were collected by interviewing nine professionals who work in the above referred unit. Images from the HIV/AIDS epidemic are strongly present in the professional perceptions and ultimately may contribute to lower the quality of the services provided.
