Reconfigurando o sistema monetário global: moedas digitais e o futuro do dólar como moeda de reserva
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe general objective of the work is to understand how the advent of CBDCs (adoption of digital currencies by central banks) will impact the hegemonic power of the dollar. Firstly, it was necessary to understand the concept of currency, carrying out a review of the literature of Fisher, Keynes and Marx. Second, it was necessary to know how the US hegemony was consolidated and began to be understood at levels of the international payments. Next, seeking to contextualize the creation of cryptocurrencies and their role in recent financial innovations. Finally, it was observed whether such innovations influenced central banks to initiate studies for the creation and adoption of their own currencies in digital format. This new form of currency issued by central banks, in particular digital currency China, allows new arrangements to be opened in the international monetary system, enabling an alternative to the dollar-centered system, putting into “check” the hegemony of the North American currency.
