A questão da escrita filosófica na obra de Walter Benjamin

dc:description.abstractWalter Benjamin has found that the issue of presentation (Darstellung) has historically proven to be a problem immanent to philosophical doing. The present work aims to understand how he confronted this problem in the scope of his philosophical writing. The thesis deals with this theme through three perspectives which give structure to the author's work: the way language andwriting happen; the relation between writing and epistemological critique, as well as in his presentation of the aesthetic concept of allegory; and, finally, the theme of philosophical writing in its connection with politics. The discussion on this connection is based on the relationship that Benjamin established with the literary experiments present in the historical vanguards of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through his own remarkably experimental writing. The thesis intends, therefore, to offer a detailed examination of Benjamin's conceptualization of writing in philosophy, and of the way in which he faced the question by shifting, experimenting, and exercising in various ways his own activity as a writer of a very peculiar philosophy.
