Estratégias Orquestrais nas Obras Sinfônicas de Mario Ficarelli

This study aims to analyze the relationship between orchestral strategies and compositional processes in works by Mario Ficarelli, between the years of 1976 and 2012, from an analytical perspective around the orchestral-timbre manipulation. We divided this approach into two general strategies: the manipulation of the timbre contrast and its relation with the formal understanding of the works; and timbre combinations — procedures of homogeneity, heterogeneity, and combination of emerging sounds — related to the compositional idea of these works. From this research, an orchestral work entitled Spero, have been composed based on the results obtained, applying new guidelines from our compositional perspectives to be exposed.
