Políticas públicas para museus brasileiros: gestão e sustentabilidade

The following dissertation – Public policies for brazilians museums: management and sustainability – presents research based on, mainly, cultural public policies in Brazil, in particular on the content expressed in Art. 4 of the Law nº. 11.904, Statute of Museums, which provides for the sustainability of Brazilian museums through initiatives of public power. In the first chapter, part of the trajectory of cultural public policies in the country is reconstituted. With the aim of highlighting some of the possibilities for museums, the chapter discusses the use of incentive law, currently available edicts and other initiatives which depend on the active participation of the institution. The second chapter explores museum management, which through involvement and knowledge of public power dispositions, plays a fundamental role in the administration of the museum with regards to issues and completion of new projects. In the third and last chapter, the sustainability of museums is emphasized in certain strategies, some of them utilized by Brazilian museums that illustrate, in a way, the ideas explored here, having as a criterion to choose their economic impact to the community and the environment.
