Análise de um serviço de disseminação seletiva da informação como fator de mudança de comportamento e de hábitos dos usuários

Study on the use of a Selective Dissemination of Information Service and on behavior and habit changes caused by this usage, having the Seletive Dissemination of Information Service of the National Agricultural Library as a basic means for analysis. 423 users which responded to the Service were delimitaded and characterized, using as analysis independent variables, school background, research activity, teaching activity, type of instituin, region and exposure time to information. For the study dependent variables were characterized, the amount of contacts with the Service and the number of documents requested to it, wich compose a usage index, from the fraction obtained among their values From the population studied, a stratification was made, according to the expouse time to information and a 32 use sample was obtained, on wich a from was applied with the objective of showuing possible changes, from the use of chosen means Variable influence is proved, such as of school background and exposure time to information Service, as being those showing higher dependence with the ones considered, and having a bigger role in the information usage. Most of the population is placed within a low information usage, these results tending o high usage, while more effective seems the influence of some analysed variables. The results seen to prove: SDI Service usage as one of the complementary information means; is some cases there is a decrease in the use of libraries for uses acess; in other cases there is an increase in such a usage, as well as in the search for other information sources; the Service influence on the awareess process referring to information value and on a higner information exchange groups of a same instituion ore job; effective information assimilation, procided its sharing in the process of generating new knowledges; SDI Service contribuition to the decrease of the time spent with information search, as well as in the obtainment of other types of literature and in a higher quality and better access to the original documents.
