Estudo analítico da informação agrícola no Brasil

A study of the infrastructure of agricultrual information in Brasil, having as its goal development of an in-depth view of the problems of the area. The study is based on a survey carried out by means of a self-administered questionnaire among 248 institutions in the agricultrual area, from which were obtained 139 informative responses, 7 of were received beyond the stated time limit, and 28 responses advising that the institution did not have a library. Analysis of the data led us to conclude taht the infrastructure of agricvultural infromation in Brazil is undersdeveloped and insufficiently used by potencial patrons. In addition, the problems of human resources, of integration, of physical faciliies and of interacion with the user became evident. national standards and regional differences area also identified as well as information sources which merit further studies and micrievaluation. This estudy suggests that while the realizations of two large infromation systems, The System of Scientific-Technical Information (SITCE) of the Brazilian Agriculatural Research Enterprise (EMBRAPA) and the National System od Rural Information (SNIR) might aid in stimulating the development process, there exists the need for planning of a unified approach to the problems detected by this study.
