This work presents the analysis of mechanical strength, wettability and the surface of aramid fiber treated with argon plasma. The fiber was treated with argon plasma with a vacuum of 8x10-1 bar with power of 50 and 100 Watts, and, for each voltage, tests were carried out with duration of 1, 3 and 5 minutes. The tests performed were tensile tests, tensiometry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) By analyzing the results, it was observed that, for the 100 Watt treatment, the fiber presented an improvement in its wettability and an increase of 47% in the fiber’s strength resistance for the treatment duration of 3 minutes and, for the duration of 5 minutes, it is noticed that the value of the strength resistance begins to decay. The plasma treatment also increased the roughness of the fiber surface and caused the inclusion of incrustations on it, indicating a possible improvement in the mechanical interlock between fiber and matrix.
