Dispersão longitudinal em rios: desempenho de Métodos de previsão e de traçadores fluorescentes

This thesis presents the determination of the longitudinal dispersion coefficient (DL) in rivers, applying empirical equations, analytical methods and methods that use results obtained from tracer experiments. The values of DL were calculated under different flow conditions of the Paraíba do Sul river and also in the reach Santa Cecília Pumping Station - Guandu Water Treatment Plant, where many long-term experiments with fluorescent tracers were carried out. In the same river a short-term experiment was conducted to experimentally determine the transversal diffusion coefficient. A comparative analysis of the experimental performance of each of three fluorescent tracers (Uranine, Amidorhodamine G and Sulphorohodamine B) in the long and short-term experiments is presented.
