Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis work presents an experimental study and suggestion for modifications in a computer program on the shear strength of reinforced concrete members with hollow circular cross-section and longitudinal reinforcement uniformly distributed along the perimeter. Four specimens were tested forming two groups according to the percentage of transverse reinforcement. In each group the main variable was the axial compression. The test results lead to the proposal of some changes in the formulae proposed by Y. Nagato for the calculation of the shear strength of reinforced concrete members with plain circular cross-section in order to fit them to hollow circular cross-section. Due to the limited number of test results the proposed changes shall serv only as a guidance for future research.
