FRAES - Protótipo de sistema especialista para análise do comportamento mecânico local de risers flexíveis

This work deals with the behaviour of high-pressure flexible pipes which can be used as risers in offshore applications. It concerns primarily about the behaviour of the internal structure of the pipe. A theorethical approach allows to establish the stresses, strains and contact pressures between layers due to axisymmetrical loads and bending. The algorithms were represented in FORTRAN under an Expert System "help-desk" Prototype using the E.S.E from IBM. The resulting system links the numerical results from conventional programming to the qualitative criteria codified on a knowledge base named FRAES by using the available expert's heuristic and experience.
