Abstract
dc:description.abstractln a horizontal copper disk inmersed in water at saturation temperature heat is transfered in steady state. Levels of heat flux are regulated so that free convection and then nucleate boiling are observed. The value of heat flux is determined experimentally and high speed film is used to register bubble growth. ln order to explain the phenomenon a theoretical model for the heat transfer mechanism is proposed which considers that in nucleate boiling still part of heat is transfered by free convection. No attempt is made in order to determine the level in which free convection may be considered null.
