Kontrollierte Darstellung von Blockcopolymeren durch atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) und Untersuchungen der Oberflächenmorphologie durch Rasterkraftmikroskopie

Abstract

dc:description

In the present thesis a new method for the preparation of well-defined PEO-b-PS and PS-b-PEO-b-PS as well as PEO-b-PHEMA and PHEMA-b-PEO-b-PHEMA block copolymers is presented. The method comprises the preparation of mono- and bifunctional PEO-macroinitiators and their application in the ATRP of styrene and HEMA. Model initiators and monofunctional PEO-macroinitiators with phenyl-, methyl-, and H- substituents in alpha-position of the initiating radical were investigated with respect to their initiating properties in the ATRP of styrene and MMA. PEO-b-PS and PS-b-PEO-b-PS block copolymers were synthesized by ATRP of styrene in bulk. For the first time, well-defined PEO-b-PHEMA and PHEMA-b-PEO-b-PHEMA block copolymers were synthesized by ATRP of HEMA in glycolic solution. The kinetics of the polymerizations were investigated and the block copolymers were characterized. The surface morphology of the obtained block copolymers was investigated by means of AFM using Phase Imaging. By functionalization of AFM tips and their application in AFM measurements in Tapping Mode an enhanced resolution in the topography and the phase images was achieved.
