Der Einfluss einer mit Eiöl versetzten Zahnpasta auf pathogene Mikroorganismen der Mundhöhle und Entzündungszeichen des marginalen Parodontiums : klinische und mikrobiologische Untersuchungen

The influence of oil of egg, an extract from chicken egg, added to a dentifrice at a concentration of 1.5% on mutans streptococcus, lactobacillus and prevotella intermedia and on clinical aspects of gingivitis and adult periodontitis was examined in a randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical double-blind-study. 31 patients with gingivitis or adult periodontitis used oil-of-egg-dentifrice or placebo for 21 days. Before and after, plaque accomodation, probing depth and bleeding on probing were scored, saliva streptococci and saliva lactobacilli were measured by selective culturing, crevicular fluid prevotellae were measured by dioxigenin- marked specific DNA-sonds against 16s-rRNA in dot-blotting procedure. Plaque accomodation showed non-significant decrease of 12.4%, probing depth showed non-significant decrease of 0.25mm, bleeding on probing showed significant decrease of 35%. Prevotella showed significant decrease. Streptococcus showed slight and non-significant decrease, lactobacillus did not show any change.
