Zur subgingivalen Applikation von Eiöl in der Therapie der Erwachsenenparodontitis : klinische und mikrobiologische Untersuchungen

Oil of egg, an extract of chicken egg was applied locally to patients showing clinical signs of adult periodontitis with a pocket depth up to 15mm. A formulation containing oil of egg by a concentration of 5% was applied into gingival pockets three times every seven days full mouth. Before and seven days after treatment, plaque accomodation, bleeding on probing and probing depth was scored and samples of crevicular fluid and subgingival plaque were examined to the content of A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. intermedia, B. forsythus and P. gingivalis by specific dioxigenin-marked DNA-sonds against bacterial 16s-RNA in dot-blotting procedure. The examination was carried out as a randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical double-blind study including 34 patients. Plaque accomodation showed a non-significant increase of 10.3%, bleeding on probing showed a significant decrease of 35%, probing depth showed a significant decrease of 0.48mm. The amount of detected bacteria showed no significant change.
