Stellenwert der optischen Kohärenztomographie in der Beurteilung epithelialer Hauttumoren : eine offene klinische Studie zur nicht-invasiven In-vivo-Anwendung der optischen Kohärenztomographie

The epithelial skin tumors and preinvasive lesions became an increasingly important due to rising incidence in the last few years. The determination between preinvasive and initially invasive lesions and presentation of tumor margins are conditions for apply of non-invasive therapies. Since 1995 OCT provides an opportunity for non-invasive diagnostics of epithelial tumors and preinvasive lesions. 34 skin tumors have been examined by OCT within the study – 10 basal cell carcinoma, 10 Morbus Bowen and 14 acitinic keratosis – and they have been compared with corresponding histological slides. Micromorphological characteristics could be developed for all three tumor entities. The preoperative diagnostic was not 100% possible due to absent presentation of basal membrane and single tumor cells. The differentiation between tumor stroma and healthy tissue was possible in single cases. The OCT is a promising method in the non-invasive diagnostic of epithelial tumors and preinvasive lesions. In the future the determination between invasive and pre-invasive tumors can become possible due to the detailed display of structures and higher resolution by apply of laser methods.
