Querschnittstudie zur Prävention von enzyminduziertem allergischem Asthma bronchiale in einer Waschmittelfirma

Accumulation of respiratory symptoms of employees working in a detergent producing factory have been the background of this study. The study took place at the background of planned reconstructions in the factory. The study state should be checked and security instruction should be revised. The concept of this study has been planned in cooperation with the RWTH- Aachen and the participating detergent factory. The study collective consists in 207 employees working in the detergent production an packing of detergent products. 8 employees refused participating on the study, 15 employees could take part because of illness. It was a voluntary participation of the study. The examination consists in- standardized questionnaire- spirometric and impulsoszillometric test of the lung function- immunologic Pricktest with environmental allergens and specific enzymatic allergens (savinase, lipase, amylase and cellulose)- testing of IgE-concentration in the blood- cap-test for specific IgE-antibodies (savinase, amylase and lipase)- personal and stationary measurement of total dust and enzymatic dust The results were divided into three different severity codes of enzymatic sensitization and enzymatic allergy. 13 employees have been scaled into the first severity code, 22 employees must be considered as having an occupational disease concerning allergic rhinitis and 9 employees must be considered as having a work related enzymatic asthma. The employees of severity code two and three should be reevaluated by the company physician to find out if this suspicion of occupational disease could be confirmed. Concerning this reevaluation the decision should be mad which employees should be taken out of the risk zone and which employees can be considered as having an occupational disease. These results confirm the necessity of prevention measures.
