  1. Deep CNN-Based Automated Optical Inspection for Aerospace Components

… of the product and high reliability, manual inspection and traditional automatic optical inspection have been employed to identify the defects throughout production and maintenance. These inspection techniques have several limitations such as tedious, time- consuming, inconsistent, …

  2. The deep optical ZoA galaxy catalogue in Vela first indications of previously hidden large-scale structures

This thesis presents a deep optical galaxy catalogue of the Vela region in the Zone of Avoidance (I b < 10°.245 < I < 280. This region was searched for galaxy candidates by optical inspection of IIIaJ (3950 A to 5400 A) film copies of the ESO/SRC sky survey as part of an effort to reduce the ZoA.

  4. Electrical impact assessment of dislocations in silicon materials for solar cells

… dislocation clusters. I propose and validate an optical inspection routine based on dislocations' surface characteristics to predict their recombination activity, and extend this methodology to novel growth processes. Lastly, I explore a spatial dispersion metric to assess its potential as a …

  5. COHERENT DETECTION OF SCATTERED LIGHT BY SUBMICROMETER AEROSOLS.

A particle counting instrument, the Coherent Optical Particle Spectrometer (COPS) has been developed for measuring particles in aerosol systems. It optically counts and sizes single particles one at a time as they pass through an optically defined inspection region so particle size distributions …
