  1. Somatic evolution in normal human endometrium

… and evolutionary landscapes of the normal human endometrium. In the first results chapter, I investigate the clonal composition of normal endometrial glands. The majority of glands are clonal cell populations that share a common recent ancestor and the monoclonality is independent of whether they …

… of class I HDACs, HDAC1, 2 and 3, both in the endometrium and the mammary gland and in endometrial and breast carcinomas is largely unknown. Therefore, we assessed HDAC1, 2 and 3 expression in above tissues as well as in the T47D-breast cancer cell line, in consideration of the HDAC1 due to its …

  5. Identify and characterise stem cell population of the human endometrium

The human endometrium is a highly regenerative tissue that experiences functional and structural changes during each menstrual cycle in order to provide a favourable environment for implantation of the embryo. Underpinning this cycle must be a stem cell population. The aim of this project was to …

  6. Regulation of Survivin Gene Expression In The Human Endometrium and Endometrial Cancer

In the United States, endometrial cancer is the leading cancer of the female reproductive tract. There are 40,100 new cases and 7,470 deaths from endometrial cancer estimated for 2008 (47). The average five year survival rate for endometrial cancer is 84% however, this figure is substantially lower …

  7. Role of mast cells in women's health and disorders of the endometrium

During the normal menstrual cycle, the human endometrium undergoes extensive tissue remodelling under the influence of ovarian-derived hormones. The endometrium has well defined stromal and epithelial compartments with the former containing both a well-developed vasculature as well as a diverse …

  9. Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer (Emmprin) Regulates Matrix Metalloproteinases in Human and Baboon Uterine Endometrium

Human epithelial endometrial cells secreted a full-length functional form of EMMPRIN that stimulated stromal expression of MMP-1,-2 and -3 but not EMMPRIN. We also found that endogenous stromal cell expression of EMMPRIN was important but not required for MMP stimulation.
