Abstract
dc:descriptionDiabetes mellitus is one of the most progressive chronic diseases in the 21st century. This thesis addresses the prospects of children with Type 1 diabetes mellitus, the frequent occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus resulting from inadequate diet and care, high-stress levels, and inadequate health awareness requiring qualified, long-term and complex nursing care. The thesis aims to explore and evaluate the care of school-age children with diabetes and offer modern approaches to optimal control of diabetes and improve quality of life. The study of the opinion of medical professionals, children and their families, the identification of the needs of children at risk for diabetes mellitus and the review of accessible literature are the basis for developing a Model for Integrated Care for Diabetic Infant Children and Adolescents. Management of diabetes mellitus is changing in line with the development of modern medical practice, which requires nurses to increase and maintain their range of knowledge and skills continuously. Partnership with children and families can lead to better control of the disease.
