Bildung und Nutzung multinuklearer Titanocenkomplexe mit N-heterocyclischen Brückenliganden

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Within the scope of this theses reactions of titanocene sources and higher anellated aromatic N-heterocycles have been investigated and the properties of resulting products were described from different points of view. Quinoxalines and quinolines have been shown to undergo dehydrogenative C-C coupling reactions to produce titanocene complexes of biquinoline and hexaazatrinaphthylene (HATN) derivatives. Trinuclear assemblies of titanocenecomlexes of C3-symmetric HATN-type ligands are interesting in their own right. The selective oxidation of titanium centres has been established by stochiometric reactions with ferrocenium salts as one electron oxidants. Thereby a number of mixed valence states have been shown to be accessible and were isolated as crystalline compounds. This allowed first investigations on the extent of electronic communication between titanium centers of different valency as well as the transfer of concepts broadly applied in the field of mixed valence chemistry of late transition metal complexes. In combination with the chemical oxidation reactions, the redox behaviour of the trinuclear assembly has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. Through this method nine stable oxidation states of one compound without decomposition or major structural change were accessible. This work reveals new essential aspects onto the coordination chemistry of low valent titanium.
